The Brennan Family |
A Beautiful Reunion on Pensacola Beach
The Brennan family... does that name ring a bell?
Maybe it's because I photographed them last year when little Blair was only nine months old. She was the star of my 2025 season! Those big blue eyes, sitting in the soft white sand, completely in love with the beach—it was impossible not to fall in love with her.
So when Emily reached out to book another family session for 2026, I couldn't have been more excited. There really is no greater compliment you can give a photographer than trusting them to capture your family's memories year after year.
Seeing everyone again felt like catching up with old friends.
Blair is now 17 months old and, like many toddlers, she wasn't quite as sure about the sand this year. She was a little timid at first, but that sweet little face was just as adorable as ever. Emily looked absolutely stunning after shedding the baby weight, Dustin was as handsome as always, and I was so happy to see Derek (Dustin's brother) back again. He has an incredible talent for making Blair laugh, and his playful personality always helps create genuine smiles. We were also joined by another special member of the Brennan family—Dad—which made the session even more meaningful.
Despite the Florida humidity being through the roof, we managed to make it through a full hour on the beach. Everyone looked amazing, and the love this family shares shines through in every single image.
Take a look for yourself... I think you'll agree they are absolutely beautiful.
You may have noticed that I'm a little late sharing this sneak peek, and I owe Emily and her family an explanation.
Last weekend, I experienced every photographer's nightmare. My Lightroom catalog—the software I use to import, organize, and edit every session—suddenly crashed. It contains nearly 100,000 photographs collected over the years. While I had backups in place (thank goodness!), what I didn't anticipate was how long the recovery process would take.
Downloading my backup, reinstalling everything, and allowing Lightroom to rebuild and update such a massive catalog took nearly four days. Four very long days... right in the middle of my busiest season.
It was certainly not how I planned to spend my week, but it taught me some valuable lessons. I've already invested in a high-speed Thunderbolt drive to make sure my workflow is even more reliable moving forward. Sometimes technology reminds us that even when you're prepared, there's always room to improve.
Emily, thank you so much for your patience and understanding. I'm so sorry you had to wait a little longer to see these gorgeous images, but I truly hope they were worth it.
Thank you, Brennan family, for allowing me to tell your story once again. It is an honor to watch your family grow, and I can't wait to see what next year brings.
