A Sneak Peek of Vonsha & Alex | Pensacola Beach Newlywed Portraits
Some sessions are memorable not just because of the photographs, but because of the people behind them. Vonsha and Alex's session was definitely one of those.
They booked their portrait session during the week of Tropical Storm Arthur, and I think we changed our schedule more times than either of us could count while trying to dodge the unpredictable weather. Through every change, Vonsha remained one of the sweetest, most patient clients I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
Then I met Alex.
The very first words out of his mouth were, "This was not my idea." I couldn't help but laugh. I smiled and told him, "By the time we're done, you're going to love me."
Well...challenge accepted!
Alex reminded me so much of my own husband with his dry sense of humor and playful personality. Although he was dealing with quite a bit of discomfort after breaking his prosthetic leg in the sand, he never lost his wit. We took our time, shared plenty of laughs, and before long I was catching genuine smiles that perfectly reflected the love he has for his new bride.
Having been married for only two days, these two were still glowing with that newlywed excitement.
We met at 6:00 p.m. near the Pensacola Beach Pier, a location Vonsha had specifically chosen after falling in love with Runyell's pier portraits. Because walking through the sand was difficult for Alex, we adjusted our plans and made the most of every location. We captured beautiful portraits of the two of them together near the hotels, where the walk was much easier, and then created some absolutely stunning solo portraits of Vonsha beneath the pier, where the evening light was simply perfect.
As photographers, we often adapt to changing weather, changing light, and unexpected challenges. Sessions like this remind me that some of the best photographs come from simply slowing down, working together, and embracing whatever the day brings.
Thank you, Vonsha and Alex, for trusting me with these memories. It was truly an honor to photograph your first days as husband and wife. I wish you both a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and happiness together. Congratulations again on your beautiful marriage!
