Brooke & Aiden
Downtown Pensacola Couple Session
Every once in a while I get a session that reminds me how much I truly love photographing in downtown Pensacola. Brooke and Aiden were one of those couples. When Brooke first reached out to book a session, I didn’t immediately recognize her name, but later my daughter mentioned that Brooke was actually the sister of someone I had photographed almost three years ago. It’s always special when families come back to me over time—it makes what I do feel even more meaningful.
I asked Brooke and Aiden to arrive a little early for their session because downtown Pensacola offers so many beautiful spots for photography. The architecture alone is incredible, and the way the sunlight filters between the buildings creates some truly magical moments. Nearly 99.9% of my sessions take place at the beach, so whenever a couple wants something different, I’m beyond excited. Downtown gives us such a unique backdrop—historic buildings, charming alleyways, and warm golden light reflecting off brick and stone.
We began our session near Admiral Mason Park, a place that holds a lot of memories for me since I’ve photographed many proms and homecoming portraits there over the years. From there we wandered through some of the small passageways nearby, discovering quiet corners and secluded spots along the way. The beginning of any session can feel a little awkward for couples while everyone gets comfortable, so moving between locations and doing a bit of walking helps loosen the tension and allows personalities to shine through naturally.
As we continued, we made our way to Plaza Ferdinand and eventually over toward the Santa Rosa Courthouse, which provided such a stunning architectural backdrop. Brooke and Aiden were absolutely wonderful to photograph. They came prepared, were open to posing, and at the same time brought so much natural energy to the session. We captured plenty of the classic posed portraits they wanted, but some of my favorite images came from the candid moments—laughing, walking, and simply enjoying the experience together. I even shot a full segment in black and white, which added a timeless feel to their gallery. Overall, the session felt relaxed, fun, and genuinely special—exactly the kind of experience I hope every couple walks away with.
