Sunrise Family Portraits at Navarre Beach
The Nguyen Family
When families come together, there is nothing more meaningful than preserving those moments with beautiful portraits. The Nguyen family chose an early morning session at Navarre Beach, and it turned out to be the perfect location for their family's story.
When Brooklyn first reached out to book her session, she had another location in mind—her mother-in-law's backyard on the bay. While I completely understood wanting to photograph somewhere with sentimental value, I also knew there were a lot of unknowns. As photographers, we don't just look at a location; we study the light. We have to think about where the sun will be, whether there is enough shade, how the backgrounds will photograph, and whether the lighting will flatter everyone in the images.
I've learned over the years that even the prettiest backyard can become a difficult place to photograph if the lighting isn't right. In fact, I'd recently had a challenging session on the bay, so I gently encouraged Brooklyn to consider another option.
After a few conversations, she trusted my recommendation, and I couldn't have been happier that she did.

Why Navarre Beach?
The decision became even more meaningful after learning why Navarre Beach holds such a special place in their hearts.
Brooklyn's parents moved to nearby Milton about six months ago and have made it part of their daily routine to walk Navarre Beach almost every morning. It has become one of their favorite places to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and appreciate the beauty of the Gulf Coast.
If you've ever visited Navarre Beach, you'll understand why.
Unlike many of Florida's more commercial beach destinations, Navarre has remained peaceful and family-oriented. The beaches are wide and uncrowded, the emerald water is breathtaking, and there is plenty of room to enjoy a quiet walk without weaving through large crowds.
One of the things I appreciate most is how the local community has preserved the natural beauty of the area. Restaurants, bars, and busy tourist attractions are set back from the shoreline, allowing the beach itself to remain calm and relaxing. It's the kind of place where families can simply enjoy spending time together.
Three Generations Together
This session was especially meaningful because it brought together three generations of one family.
Brooklyn's parents were joined by their daughter and son-in-law, their son and daughter-in-law, and the newest member of the family—a beautiful new grandbaby who completely stole the show.
There is something incredibly special about photographing grandparents with their growing family. These aren't just portraits for today; they're photographs that will become treasured family heirlooms for years to come.
The soft sunrise light created a beautiful backdrop as everyone laughed, hugged, and celebrated this exciting new chapter together. It was a relaxed morning filled with genuine smiles and quiet moments that simply can't be staged.
Trusting Your Photographer
One of the biggest lessons from this session is that choosing the right location can completely transform your images.
As photographers, we're always thinking about light first. Beautiful light creates beautiful portraits. Sometimes that means recommending a location that clients hadn't originally considered—not because their idea isn't meaningful, but because we know where we'll be able to create the very best photographs.
I'm so thankful Brooklyn trusted me. Navarre Beach gave us everything we needed: gorgeous light, peaceful surroundings, and a timeless backdrop that allowed this wonderful family to be the focus.
The result was a gallery full of natural, joyful images that perfectly captured three generations enjoying a beautiful Florida morning together.
Thank you, Nguyen family, for allowing me to photograph such a special season in your lives. It was an absolute pleasure meeting all of you, and I hope these photographs bring your family joy for many years to come.
